Good Morning and Happy February Twin Cities NACE!
There is nothing more exciting than the Monday morning after the Super Bowl when you are 100% regretting staying up late and eating 13 different kinds of various cheese dip. This month always seems to go quickly, and the chapter has a lot of moving parts in the next few weeks / months that I am excited to share with you.
February Meeting: There are still 2 days before our first event of 2020. Registration is live until 5PM (event start time) on Wednesday. What better way to start a new year than with new decor and design trends. Sheraton Bloomington and Après have been absolutely delightful to work with on this event. The content is strong and the menu is beautifully designed. With wine pairings for each course, we encourage you to join us for a night that will be sure to be the highlight of your week. CPCE, say what? Twin Cities NACE is hosting the CPCE fast track and exam this April. CPCE Fast Track will be offered at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. The CPCE Fast Track is an 8-hour course tailored to catering and event professionals pursuing the nationally recognized Certified Professional in Catering and Events (CPCE) designation. The fast track date is the day after our annual EDU conference as it is being facilitated by Morgan Montgomery, Vice President of NACE National. We are extremely thankful for the support from NACE National to put on this fast track here in the Twin Cities with hopes of creating many new CPCE's. I am doing the exam this year and looking forward to studying and learning with you.
CPCE TESTING FEES: I have attached for your reference a flyer with general information and fees.
- If you are interested in taking the CPCE fast track course and the exam, please let us know at [email protected]
- There is also a link for scholarships below. Application process needs to be complete by February 15, 2020:
What is the fast track? Is this the exam? No - this isn't the actual test. In this preparation course, attendees learn the fundamental concepts of CPCE’s eight core competencies as well as test-taking strategies to help them pass the CPCE exam.
CPCE 8 Core competencies are as follows:
- Beverage Management
- Catering Services
- Contracts and Agreements
- Food Production
- Event Management
- Human Resources
- Sales and Marketing
GROUP DISCOUNT: If we get 5 or more people we will receive $100 off per person.
The test will take place the week after the fast track date. Details coming soon. It will take place with Kathy Roberts, CPCE, at the Hilton Minneapolis.
NACE EDU 4/20/2020 - You are excited and so are we. With our early bird pricing promo, we currently are at 75% of our overall registration from 2019. AMAZING! Registration is still live and will continue to increase in price as we approach the date. Big detail reveals are coming at the end of the month so be sure to get your seat. We are so happy and surprised by the buzz around this event and can't wait to keep sharing event information.
New Faces: We have a couple of new members stepping in and stepping up as part of the Board of Directors. I am excited to introduce them at our upcoming events. If you have interested in supporting the BOD by being part of a committee, please reach out to me. We have very little and very big (but all very important) spots available.
Bruce's Celebration of Life: The date for the celebration event is Friday, March 20, at Mystic Lake Center. Details will be shared as they become available. Please know all are welcome. If you are interested in donating services for this, please reach out to me directly at [email protected]
That is all for now! I know the website was a total pain last week with declining credit cards during registration for EDU. Thank you for reaching out to me and letting me work on it. I appreciate the kindness you showed during a frustrating time. As always, if you need something please just let me know. See you on Wednesday at the Sheraton Bloomington!
